Amelia Thomson-DeVeaux is a writer and editor based in Chicago. 

She is a contributing writer at FiveThirtyEight, where she writes a regular column and covers legal issues, including the Russia investigation, and writes about religion and American politics. Her work has been published in a variety of outlets, including CNN, Cosmopolitan, National Journal, and New York Magazine.

She is a graduate of Princeton University and holds a master's degree in religious studies from The University of Chicago. Between degrees, she was on the staff of The American Prospect and worked as an writer and editor for PRRI, a public opinion research organization in Washington, DC.
